Contact with First Nations

Trade

Inuit were interested in the trading of dogs because they wanted to build speed and reduce the incidence of in-breeding. They sought out opportunities to trade dogs. Other items that would have been traded between the groups were seal and whale products from the Inuit because First Nations did not hunt these for wood, metals and axes from First Nations. Check out the story about trading dogs.
