AB 1179, handle, Inuit, ivory, sinew, 10 cm x 2 cm, Collection of Glenbow Museum, Calgary, Canada.

Inuit handle

Inuit handle.

Evidence
This is a handle carver from ivory and secured by splicing braided sealskin rope to the ends of the handle. The rope end would be looped around whatever heavy object was to be carried. This could be used to haul heavy seals by looping the rope through a hole made into the skin.
