Inuit valued the whaler technology and the strength of the materials that were available to move large objects. Before whalers brought pulleys, Inuit moved whales which they had caught to shore using manpower and winches.
New technologies and the equipment for large scale operations improved the Inuit ability to deal with larger harvests. Ironically, the whalers brought killing to the Arctic on such a large scale that Inuit, once they acquired he technology, had little left to use it on.
